About Us

The idea behind The Joint Injection Clinic evolved in early 2020, when the Coronavirus pandemic first hit the UK.

At that time and indeed even beforehand, it was becoming clear that certain medical procedures which were once freely and easily available on the NHS, were no longer being prioritised and were becoming more difficult to access, namely diagnostic ultrasound and ultrasound-guided intervention and injections, particularly for common painful musculoskeletal issues such as knee arthritis, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder and trigger finger.

At that time and even more so now, the only options available to patients who were suffering with musculoskeletal pain requiring an injection, was to consider either a lengthy NHS waiting list or to pay the sometimes astronomical private hospital fees. At present, NHS wait times for relatively straightforward procedures has reached 6-12 months and a simple injection can cost over a thousand pounds in some parts of the UK.

The Joint Injection Clinic provides:

  • A rapid-access service, aiming to offer all patients an appointment within 7 working days
  • A consultant-doctor led service, with all injections performed by consultants with many years experience
  • An ultrasound-guided service, where all injections are performed under ultrasound guidance ensuring accuracy, safety and cost-effectiveness
  • A cost-effective alternative to Private Hospital Fees with injections costing on average HALF of those at major private institutions.

We pride ourselves on offering a tailored, bespoke approach to our patients. Our clinicians are highly skilled, knowledgeable and approachable. Our goal is to help you through any painful musculoskeletal issues and to allow you to focus on your purpose, not your pain.

Our admin team are friendly and aim to rapidly answer any questions or queries you may have around the appointment and injection process.

Not all of our consultations will result in an injection and our clinicians are careful to ensure that any injection is clinically appropriate, having weighed up the risks and benefits of any intervention through a joint discussion with you.

At The Joint Injection Clinic we have facility recognition with all the major insurers meaning that most procedures will be covered by your medical insurance provider. We have self-pay options and we are also starting to work with NHS trusts to provide contracts to the National Health Service.
